Clearly this site is finally and truly dead. I'm just going around the boards turning off the lights. So to speak. It's been fun. Ride far. Ride safe.

I've enjoyed all the positive and informative banter since it started - we've laughed and sadly on occasion shared the loss. David C or Mr Carmichael [the retired teacher] as I sent PM's to. (oh - private messages all cleared, savour the odd good joke I posted!) It's been fun, at least some of the group have joined the facebuck closed group, so on that note.......May the road rise with You

Well, I used to have a really high paying job, which was nice, but the company ran out of money in February this year, and I got laid off (along with everyone else). The company is actually still going, and they wanted to hire me back, but it's limping along with a not super bright future. Anyway, I went to work with two pals of mine, and now design and build industrial coating equipment (used to put hard nitride coatings on cutting and forming tools). It's a only a little company - just three of us in it now, and I took a MASSIVE pay cut. On the other hand, it's a hell of a lot of fun, and I earn enough money to maintain my bikes, and it's a really flexible job. So life is good.
I also met a gal, and moved in with her. That is very good. She likes to come out on a motorcycle ride with me from time to time.
That, in a nutshell, is my year this year. Ups and downs, lot's going on, it's all good.

Money is often over rated, particularly if you trade it for more stress and less time. Stress is creepy and time is limited. Sounds like you are doing things right. Also sounds like we should be invited to a wedding sometime in the future :-)

Well, you never know. We're both a bit ambivalent about the marriage thing. We're talking about building a bigger garage next year so that I can keep all my bike nearer, now THAT'S true love and commitment, right there.
You're right about the money aspect. Having the high stress high paid job worked well to get me to a certain financial point, but it's nice to step back from that a bit, to be honest. I have enough, and I'm happy. That's a pretty good place to be.

Hey Guys, I am truly slack and have not called into the lounge room for a beer in yonks...Bad Blackston...have been stupidly busy at a job I hate and haven't had time to scratch my ass let alone get my wife off the computer...She is running a successful internet business and I have no other unit to get on with so this is actually a rare occasion...let me say this regarding the shut down and lights off thing...NOOOOOOOOOOoo!...I love this place...I always have...you guys rock and we have had some great times and sad ones as Con has mentioned...I still have aspirations of catching up with some of you when we finally get off this island to travel, but until then I will endeavour to get on a bit more...Just finished revamping a sadly neglected 94 model Thunderbird...has come up well considering its age and low K's, just brutally treated by shop wankers...also I had to sell my Beemer and my daytona which was unfortunate but things need to be done to survive...still have Max and he's ripping along as usual...I have a new grandson from my youngest boy and his fiancee, so that makes five now and I am in a beard growing comp with my best mate in NSW...I look a bit like Bruce now...anyway guys, Like i said I will try to catch up more often...
Hope you are all well,
Cheers brothers
Bret...........

G'day Bret, Hell yeah - I've growing a beard too, but chicken out and trim it every couple of weeks. After being made redundant in December 13 and fruitless in securing one since, I'm flat out a full three days a week as [voluntary] administrator of our local Men's Sheds a mere 5 minutes walk away. Handy as I grew tired of my former three hour daily commute. Thankfully we have enough squirrelled away to keep the wolf from the door [house cleared a few years ago]. After over 33 years loyal employment to my credit, at first I felt abandoned, but thankfully soon gained what little money could buy and that was my freedom - so sage words rmak. Prop - hope all goes well with your future, I know you'll give it your best shot (no NBR pun intended) Not gone just yet, pop in every so often
Love, Peace & Respect to all of you brothers
