...Why this site failed to gain more traction. I look at the other Triumph forums and see sites loaded with obnoxious ads and promotions, sites requiring submission to a ruler, and think... "Really? Triumph riders bow to this?" Are there really so few of us who value quality and independence? Guess so. Ah well. I'll be dead soon enough...

We're all ending up dead someday,U.I'm 67, still working and waiting on the delivery of my T120 ordered the 30th of april.(Triumph people, get moving!) Like my late dad used to say: "Those who are afraid 'll get beaten up too". I will gladly take what's left for me in this life and will hate the moment I will die. And yes,I'll be afraid. :-(

And yes,I'll be afraid. :-( greyplague. That's a great line of your dad's. Coming up on 66 myself in November. Not much afraid of dying, mostly curious as to what if anything is on the other side. But I am terrified of dying slowly of some lingering ailment. Just last week a friend passed after two years of suffering. Two more earlier this year, also after years of suffering. Last spring, another just dropped dead instantly and unexpectedly. Lean, strong, 57. Way too young and hard on the family, but that's the way to go. My Scram has been in storage with a pal of mine for over a year now. He called to tell me he tried to start it, but seems the gas has gone bad. I put it away with a full tank and added Stay-bil. We'll need to drain the tank and carbs, add fresh gas and see if she'll go...

It'll start. Fresh gas will do wonders. All the very best.

No worries, UC,...It just needs its captain to take the controls again. None of us are getting any younger. I've got a few aches that won't go away. They vary in intensity but,...Fukit, I made friends with it. That's the best way I can describe it. Tells me I'm still alive.
If it is the gas, try removing the carb bowls first and check them out. Might not be as bad as you think. The old gas is shit but sometimes a rinse and spit is all that is needed. The fresh fill will take care of the rest. She just needs to get her blood flowing again.

On another note,...I (think) I solved an annoying problem with the interlock switches on my Bonneville. Weird shit started happening when I would lower the side stand with the bike running and in neutral. It would sometimes cut out completely, other times run roughly on one cylinder or idle perfectly. After metering all the switches,...Side stand, neutral and clutch, all were ok. I put quite a wash on the side stand switch with WD-40 and operated it over and over. Problem persisted?! I lost my patience,...I removed the seat, removed the headlamp, removed the left and right handlebar nacelles, unplugged every connector, removed the battery, etc., etc.,The effin' bike was in bits (electrically speaking). I discovered two connectors and where the mysterious diode pack was located. The connector for the neutral switch, a single terminal connector, was tucked up under the frame on the right side of the battery. It was bone dry and a little blue green. I also realized that jumper connector next to the ECU was for completing the circuit when no alarm was present. The diode pack was a flattened rubber packet snapped into place under the fuse box. I cleaned and repacked every connector with dielectric grease. Added a little distilled water to my battery and charged overnight, cleaned and reassembled all disassembled parts,...............So far, it has been 3 weeks since the major disassemble,...All OK and bike runs perfect with all interlocks functioning properly.

"She just needs to get her blood flowing again." Don't we all?! I hear you on persistent pain. I've lived with it since my back injury in '83. Plus some new ones that have joined in along the way. Interesting your discription of "making friends with it." EXACTLY how I came to see mine, a constant companion. Thanks for the tips on the bad gas.

69 years old now. Just bought a Kubota tractor. Doesn't corner very well. But if you push the bucket into the ground it does a permanent wheel stand.

I'm not intent on arriving, Rich. It's sounds a bit like dying.Planning to soldier on, but the future is a thing that'll attack us from behind.
