As those of you who've heard me ramble on about the old days know I owned an early 70's steel tank Penton motocross version back then. The Pentons were headquartered in a town near where I grew up (Amherst, Ohio) and it was super cool to own one. I always try to hang out as much as possible at the Penton Owners booth at Vintage Motorcycle Days to look at the increasingly rare and expensive Penton bikes and to be near John Penton just to get his vibe. He was a world class rider in the Bud Ekins level, winning several ISDT. If and when I win the lottery I'm going to pick up one of these. An enduro version of the Penton with lights and the leather bag.

When I saw the thread title I thought you were going to ask us to desribe our dream enduro. The bike you show here is superb. My dream enduro would look like a TR5T (trophy trail) and run like a KTM 690. TR5T KTM 690

The picture of the Penton took me back to 77 when I did a bit of trials riding. I had an Ossa 250 like the one below. That Penton looks cool, and the Triumph, well lets say I want one!

For me,it would be a toss up between these two: Bultaco Matador Husqvarna Sportsman Both were street legal, but serious competition mounts. The Bultaco even has a fully enclosed chain. For a modern mount,I think I could get along just fine with one of these,a Aprilia RXV450: Also street legal.60hp v-twin,about 265 pounds. Imagine about the same horsepower as our bikes, but over 200 pounds lighter! Count me in. Cheers! Bruce

Well I'm going to stick with my other bike, bulletproof, runs like a dream & sounds great. She's got 14000kms on the clock & apart from rear tyres only lasting around 1200 kms it so good I don't ever want to sell it.

I haven't got a dream enduro. But I was impressed with this BMW F800 GS I took for a test ride last year. It was a little too tall for me. But there's a lower seat option I could probably live with. It's a sweet ride on the move tho. There aren't many places that I wouldn't be game to ride it, which it couldn't conquer easily.

It's going to be interesting to see what that bike ends up going for. I see bidding ended at $6600.00 without reaching reserve.

Hey Gumpt, Here's my 250 Ossa from the early, early 70's. Not as fancy as yours, but a great bike. ;D A karma point for the long extinct brand of beer in the case!
