Lots of members never post pictures.Shame on you.We like pictures. If you don't have a camera, and never take pics, well, then you have an excuse, but if you don't post pics because you don't know how,we are just about to take away your excuse.
Listen,if I can figure this stuff out, anyone can.
You can sign on for Photobucket,Flickr(those are the two that I use),or any of the dozen other image hosting sites on the web. Those give you the flexibility to post pics anywhere. Most are free, and you can store all your photos online, and free up space on your computer.Plus,if your computer crashes catastrophically, like my old one did,you won't lose all your pictures.
Methods of uploading pics from your computer to one of these image hosting sites vary from site to site,I haven't tried them all,by any means, you may have to read their tutorial, but getting them from that site to here is pretty straightforward.
Most of these sites will give you an image code.It will start with something that looks like this: and end with something that looks like this [ /img]. Just copy that, and paste it into your post wherever you want. It won't look like anything but numbers and letters in the reply area, but when you hit preview,or post your reply, you should have a picture in your post.
It may give you a code without the tags. The tags are the things that looks like this: [/img ] If it doesn't add the tags, you can click the button above, that looks like a photograph, third over from the "Tube" button. That will open a little box that will let you paste in the code, and add the tags for you,or,you can type the tags yourself. The tag without the " / " goes at the beginning, and the tag with the slash goes at the end. Those are UBBC (universal bulletin board code) code tags, and can be used on pretty much any forum.
We also have a very simple to use image uploader, built in right here, that will allow you to upload almost directly to your post.
Using the wimg Uploader
Click on "reply"at the bottom of the last post, rather than using "quick reply" On the third line below the subject line, you'll see"wimg Uploader"
Click on "Browse" That will open a window that will let you upload images from your computer.
Once you have located the image file you want,Click it so it shows in the "file name" box toward the bottom of the window.Click open. That will transfer it to the box on the "wimg Uploader" line above.
Then click "upload" In a few seconds, one or two boxes will appear below that line with links in them, usually to either "thumbnail" or "image code" Different file types will give you different options.
Image code will plop the full size image right in your post.Thumbnail will give us a small pic that we can click on to enlarge. If you have a great big full screen photo, please use thumbnail.
Click on the one you want, select all, then copy, and paste into your post.Voila!
SCREW IT!!!! I've had it with wImg! It works, then it doesn't.....It's there, then it's not.I'm tired of losing pics,so it's gone.I'll continue to look for an attached photo uploader that will actually continue to function.Until then, please use PB,Picasa, etc.
Just play around with it,and you'll get it.If it doesn't work, you can always modify your post to get rid of it,or when I come by,maybe I can fix it.You can PM me,if you want.Don't worry.Be happy.Just do it.
Everybody, please feel free to elaborate, clarify or offer other options. This thread is open.
Thanks,
Bruce
