I bought this set from Cortech for my ride to Durango and they fit perfect and worked flawlessly. The price was right also. These come with rain covers and you can use the saddle bags only or the single bag only. They detach for the night in 10 seconds and you can carry all three by one handle.

Do they need any bracket to keep them away from the wheel?

Nice set up indeed! Long rides on a Thruxton are a sign of mental stability, patriotism, gumption, character, charm, and a bunch of other real positive personality attributes. Of course, you'll need good bags for all that!

They look like the first set of bags I had on my Thrux. The original Triumph saddle bags. I dumped them after a seaon with 3000 km ride with them. Mainly because I felt I needed to think hard to get the same weight in both of them. A couple of times I notice the bike handle different in left /right turns. Have to ad, the bags look great sanpedropro:-) I use the ventura kit or a Sport tail bag if the tank bag is not enough. Both give me balance since you have the bag behind your back. Ventura 30litre.. Sport bag

I only had 40 pounds or so in the three bags total and I weigh 270 so I didn't really notice any balance problem. I put tools on one side and tequila on the other. By the end of the trip the tools were still heavy. I do prefer to ride without the bags because the bike responds so much quicker to rider inputs.
I really envy your Ohlins. Do they make a big difference and would you buy them again if you had the choice?

The Ohlins increases the handling of the bike. I have also a stearing damper, and not yet mounted Beringer 6 piston kit. I belive that before any engine mods everybody should do this steps first. Eks. from 100 km /60 miles to full stop, the Beringer kit give you 14 meters / 45 feet better than the original breaks. Combined with the handling Ohlins give you, the bike feels rock steady :-) Make sure that the shocks are adjusted to your weight. Original shocks are adjusted to a 75 kg rider. This is also the setup on your original ones. When you ride this bikes hard you will find out that they are predictable and reliable. And with the increase handling the Ohlins(or other producer) give the bike it is no problem to go inside a 600 Honda f.eks. Hope this will help you a little on your question. And again to all excuse my english. I am not that well educated as my friend Teebee ;D

Thanks, they work great. The way they attach is simple. The saddle bags attatch with straps that are closed loop on the end. You have to find 4 good attach points. you can see in one photo where I used the tube just ahead of the saddle bag. Each strap has a quick dis-connect. The top bag has a foam pad on a big flap. You open the flap and run the two main saddle bag straps under the flap and close the flap with velcro. Now the saddle bag straps go over the seat and through the flap under the top bag. When you release the dis-connects you grab the handle on the top bag and the whole assembly lifts off leaving just the 4 small nylon straps behind. I didn't even remove the nacelle. The foam on the bottom of the flap is soft and didn't leave a mark. There, now you must be totally confused.
