Wow! I am impressed with perfection you have reached with that bike - especially after seeing the "before" photo. Everything gleams. I like the look of that exhaust, minimal and clean, and the forks with the downward taper. Hope you post a video so we can hear it. Excellent job, Bret. Bravo!!!!

When I saw the pictures of the gold on the engine I wondered what you were drinking. Now that I see the finished project I understand completely. The paint is perfect and makes the entire theme work and flow. Nice job. That is going to turn heads.

Thank you gentlemen...much obliged for your gracious comments...I took it out today on it's first road run and I must say that for an older bike it's just sweet...I had the bugs in your teeth smile on my face and it went really well...took it up Springbrook mountain and it pulled well...couple of little things that I'll iron out at first service but all in all a great outcome...thank you for your praise...yes Dave , I will be filming and giving you all the running sounds....Ron, I will be doing something cool in the not to distant future and I hope it will be British...May be Marks Hybrid AJS/ Norton...yep it's a rare one...AJS frame, Norton motor....hence the "G" on the frame and engine number...could be very exciting and I don't have to go down to the shed...it's under the roof line!!!...
Stay tuned for more....hand over this Sunday....I'm pumped!!!...
All I can say now is......Hell yeah!!!! ;D
Cheers boys,
Bret.....

yeah Bret its probably a genuine factory bike, Norton ajs and matchless were all owned by the same company back in 1968 i think? and they made a desert racer called the P11 ? its an ajs framed scrambler with a norton atlas engine i think? this may be what you have if my memory serves me correctly?

Hey guys...quick update on Spitfire...due to very poor or should I say absolute crappy weather, the hand over of Spitfire will be a goer for this Saturday. Bit of a bar B Que and a lot of the people that helped me out with stuff are going to be at my place for the reveal. Sausages on bread with American mustard and Ketchup followed by a quick "This is what it looked like when you dropped it off" showing of the before pictures then the bike and then the trophy I made for his ol' man with the grub screw and the half allen key I had to make to get the fuckin thing out of the main oil feed gallery to the clutch... OMFG...and thenthe framed pictures of before and after and his receipts...another OMFG moment...and then all the bits that I have that he may want to use as spares...maybe...kind of...never...
Should be cool...will be filming and yes you will hear it run...sounds very cool...
Cheers guys....the weekend approacheth!!!
Bret.... ;D

Yes,your right about that,Ron.The P11 was originally scheduled to be a Matchless model, but when Matchless went belly-up,they were rebadged as Nortons, ala the BSA/Triumph Hurricane deal. Bret, that thing is an amazing transformation.Talk about your silk purse from a sows ear.Fantastic work. Is that copper plating on eng parts, instruments, etc?

Hey Bruce... ...No mate it's actually an American product called Spectrachrome...It's sprayed silver (real silver) then coloured to what ever colour you can think of up to ten coats and I added black...so, this one is done in ten coats orange + black...Then it's clear coated and there you have it. If you can paint it you can spectrachrome it....it's very cool...not sure of the longevity where the cases are concerned but we will tackle that problem later. As it stands it's looking really cool. The owner has not seen this bike since he dropped it off 2 years ago. It's pissing down rain here again but I'm not canceling this time. Even if he won't ride it home I still want him to at least see the beast....wish me luck mate...
Cheers Bruce,
Bret..... ;D
