I have had a Cortech mini magnetic tank bag for a while now [maybe a year?] and have used it a lot. First, the hard rubber handle had to be cut off because it slapped against the tank, marring the paint. Now, I notice that on black paint [Thruxton], paint abrasion shows from where the "wing" flap magnets rest. I have not really tried to get rid of the abrasion yet and certainly will, but I was rather disappointed in this. Oh, and I do keep the bag bottom and tank clean of debris prior to use. I also notice that the material on the bottom of the bag is beginning to crack, as though it is degrading. Didn't expect it to last forever...only a little more than a year. The bag has not ever been rained on either, by my recollection. There you have it. The silver Bonneville has shown no marring, but I think that is more due to the color. I do not think I will use it again on the Thruxton - maybe never.

I read a tip on TRAT: use a piece of the no-skid material, which is commonly used beneath a carpet or on shelves in a cabinet, underneath the bag. I do not know the name of the stuff, but it is perforated and grippy. I cut a piece to fit and tried it; the magnets hold, it seems, as they did before but with no contact with the paint. Yeah, a deep, rich black paint does look spiffy but is so susceptible to marring.

That's the stuff. I am going to give it a try because I do like the mini bag - very handy on trips.
