My bike has been sitting all summer. Now that it's cool enough to ride,I broke her out of jail. The engine starts right up and seems to run as it should with the choke on,but as soon as I turn the choke off,it only fires on one cylinder, and won't take any throttle.
In anticipation of storing it over the summer, the last time I rode it,I turned off the gas,and let it the bowls run dry. Before even trying to start it,I drained all the old gas out of the tank, and filled it with fresh stuff.
So,I'm thinking it's a plugged pilot jet,but I thought I took precautions against that. Before I tear the carbs off,has anybody got any other ideas?

If both thrittle cables and the linkage are operating as they should, and they plug wire is secure, I'd go for the carburetor removal and cleaning.

That was the first thing I did.I pulled them off and tried to blow thru them, and they seem ok.

I think you're right Bruce, sounds like the idle / pilot circuit. Did you manage to give the carbs a look yet?

No Prop,I haven't even been home long enough to get started, but I'm off til tuesday,so maybe I'll get a chance this weekend.
I think I'm going to chop up my airbox while I have the carbs off.Any good threads on Trat you can point me to,that might give me some tips on the best way to do that?
I think maybe I'll post this question there, too.See what the Hoi-Palloi have to say.

sounds like the idle / pilot circuit. Yeah, just to elaborate a little, the reason I think that's it, is because,if I feather it,and feed it it real slow, the RPMs will build to the point that the other cylinder will kick in.I can't tell you what RPM,with no tach, although it seems like about a million, realistically,it's probably about 2500 to 3000.
