I really like the high pipes on the Scrambler, except the ugly end cans! I have been looking at different high pipes, and after nearly having a heart attack when I saw the prices decided to have a go at adapting some universal silencers to fit. The pipes I priced was an Arrow at £750, Norman Hyde cans at £360, and a Zard at £999! So I ordered a pair of 16" universal silencer from feked.com www.feked.com/universal-tapered-motorcycle-silencer-16-id-36-45mm.htmlI had already got a pair of adaptor pipes that I thought would fit ok. They are available at feked.com too. www.feked.com/hinckley-triumph-bends-pair.htmlThey needed a bit of shortening and 'adjusting' with a file, but I managed to get them to fit! Here's a few pics. Pipes and adaptors Standard cans Tapered cans I had to make a couple of brackets, one to fix the pipes parrallel to one another and a rear hanger bracket. I like the way the pipes go around the shock and tuck in towards the mudguard The clamps that came with the silencers are a bit agricultural, so I have ordered some better ones. But all in all I am pleased with how they have turned out. They sound great! And the best bit is they only cost £90 and a day tinkering in the garage! ;D

Good work, Steve! How about a soundclip? They look nice and clean Oh, but you probably need to polish your shoes I've wondered about how one would go about if one had non-standard mufflers to fit to headers. What's the deal with adaptor-pipes from Feked and suchlike? Could one find adaptors for most applications?

Fantastic result Steve!! Those pipes look great. It was the bulbous nature of the high silencers which put me off a bit I think, but you've solved that one really well. And at minimal cost too! Well done!! Im looking forward to tagging along behind you very soon, and hearing first hand what they sound like! (And now you've got me thinking about that set of original pipes Ive had in the cupboard for the last three years!) V.

What's the deal with adaptor-pipes from Feked and suchlike? Could one find adaptors for most applications? The adaptor pipes I used, (the ones in the link) are actually for a Bonneville/T100. The Bonnie/T100 header pipes bend upwards and outwards at the end. This makes it awkward to fit universal pipes as they end up pointing outwards! The adaptors fit onto the Bonnie/T100 header and you can adjust the angle by rotating them, this allows you to fit any silencer you like providing they are the right diameter. You will have to make your own rear brackets though.

Another nice tidy job Steve and you can't beat that price After seeing Vent's Zard two into one, I must say they are the nicest aftermarket pipes for a Scram.....knowing your luck I bet a set mystically appears on fleabay next week!

Just in case anyone was going to rush out and buy some of those massively overpriced Thunderbike silencers, this is all they are. Some universal Sportster style slip ons with an angled pipe welded on,along with some little brackets to mount the heat shields. After I saw them,I was sure glad that Old Scratcher gave them to me free, and I didn't pay $600.00 or whatever for them. I always wondered if those adapter pipes had the right angle to do the job.I wrote both Newbonneville and Bellacorse about them, but they both wrote back that they were made for Bonnies,so that's all they would fit.I had resolved to make my own to fit some meggas that I have, but when OS offered the Thunderbikes,I just went that route. This is some great stuff,Steve. As for as I know, you're the first one to try those adapters on a Scram. That opens up a whole new range of possibilities on silencers for us Scrambler guys.Good job! (I knew we kept you around for some reason )
