For quite some time now I've had an idea in mind for a project bike, I've had it all mentally planned out right down to the last detail but with dollars scarce and the parts I required even more scarce the idea was put on the back burner for a while.
Over the last few months I've had a few extra pennies to play with so I started seriously shopping for the required parts for the project. Some of the parts were easy to source so it was just a matter of parting with the cash but some others took a lot of hunting and patient waiting before I could get my hands on them. Of course living in Australia doesn't help when it comes to sourcing parts for Bonnie's so virtually everything had to be imported, either from the US or the UK.
So what exactly is this project concept?
This is a mock up I did in Photoshop to test my theories visually. I already had a 2008 T100 with a modified engine to base the project on.
Here we have all of the necessary parts laid out, a little over $5,000 was spent assembling this lot. Starting from the rear we have a set of 2009 Bonnie Mag wheels with Pirelli Daiblo II radials fitted in 110/70R17 & 140/70R17 sizes, next to those are a set of Honda CBR600 F3 forks with 2009 Bonnie lowers fitted. In the middle row we have a fuel tank & fenders from a 2006 Scrambler all brand new. Next we have a set of Norman Hyde rear sets, a Triumph single seat, a set of Norman Hyde M bars and Triumph bar end mirrors. In the front we have a D & D polished stainless steel full exhaust system.
This is the base bike which I used for the project. My beloved 2008 Bonnie T100 which I have owned since new.
