Well, I guess it was bound to happen some time. I have an electrical problem with my Bonnie. When I start, warm for maybe a minute and ride off,...It will cut out briefly 3 to 5 times for less than 1 second to 1 second. Once it is fully warmed up, the problem disappears. I have checked and gaped the pick-up sensor, (The factory gap was too large). This made little difference. I have checked my coil and high tension connections, all seem OK. Usually a coil will malfunction when hot,...This is the opposite. The thing is it is definitely temperature related . The ignition box under the seat is not effected by engine temperature,...But the coil might be?
Anyone out there run into a similar problem? I had to miss an excellent ride because of this! I just don't trust it. It might completely fail and leave me stranded.

Found it!!! Feckin side stand switch! Water and ever present salt had caused the plunger of the switch to not extend fully when the stand was up. It was borderline. When the engine was warm, the switch would extend far enough to eliminate the "side stand is down" indication. I think the safety feature of this switch is valid enough to not disable it permanently,...but, usually leaving the side stand down is one of those things you only do once! Especially after your first left hand turn! Ha! Not that this has ever happened to me,.......... :-)

The Ol side stand switch glitch Hey…damn i would love a dollar for every time I've come across that one…same goes for the glowing oil light that I used to get when i first bought Max…one quick post here to the boys and I was informed that water sits in the rubber boot after you wash it and it shorts the light…needless to say after much panic I have religiously blown the little bugger out with compressed air gently and never had the problem again…It can be frustrating when its such a simple thing Jimi…
Cheers mate,
Bret….

I guess, in a perfect world, intermittent troubles wouldn't exist,...When things broke, they stayed broken. Usually with electrics, an intermittent trouble is a forewarning of a worsening condition. Without finding the jammed up switch it would have pi$$ed me off for weeks and made me recheck components over and over. Good it was something fixed with the #2 Handyman's Secret Weapon = WD40. ( #1 being Duct Tape ) I can understand how a glowing oil light would cause panic! I'll keep that bit of knowledge in my memory.
