Could you stop the moving Marquee thing with RockerCT and Lakes adverts. It uses up surprisingly a large amount of my CPU and slows my computer down. Ctrl+Alt+Del and see for yourself in performance. I'm not sayin get rid of em I'm just sayin stop them from moving. Or say no and make me get a better, newer, faster computer...go on I dare ya  |

You just got to adjust it every so often with a whack on the side.  |

Surprisingly, no...This sites home page is slower. the home page of this site uses up 100% of my CPU which dramatically slows my computer down. moving a link across a web page is like hitting refresh every second Not a big deal it justs means if I want to do anything else on the web I have to close the site or hang out in the bald tyre. Oh by the way Bill...you owe me a new monitor.  |

I was planning on making The CT Rockers a static link tonight.However,since you're bitching about it......   Just kidding.Actually I'd like to know who you're blowing to get TRN to load faster than this site. Is it Haggis? Prop? Don't tell me it's that Disco Sucks guy. I just timed it. From my homepage,including clicking thru the British Iron International Riders Association homepage,like I always do, approximately 7 seconds,from first click,til it said ''done'' at the bottom. For TRN,18 seconds.And that's directly from my homepage,without going thru a click thru site. I also tried your experiment.The home page of this forum was using 3 to 7 percent,occasionally spiking to about 15.Monitored over about 1 minute. This thread,which has two moving gif images on each one of your posts,plus a moving gif on Greyplagues post,was using 4 to 9 percent,occasionally spiking to 35. I'm using a 3 year old Emachine 256mb with a 2.50ghz Celeron processor,Cox fibre-optic cable connection,and Mozilla FireFox as a browser.I don't know what all that shit means,I just push buttons.But I do know,from experience,that FireFox is way faster than IE. So,my 'puter ain't nothin' special,but I do have a killer fast connection,and fast browser. I still don't understand,regardless of what kind of equipment you're using,why TRN loads faster than this place.It don't make no sense.  But I will pin the moving banner.I was going to anyway. WTF? am I the only one? The home page does load faster then TRN no doubt. its the moving header that slows me down..I think? Cause any other page on this site is fine its just on the home page with the moving header.. anybody else have this problem? On the home page press and hold in this order Ctrl+Alt+Delete and check your CPU performance. what percent is your CPU at? sorry to be a pain Bruce I thought maybe this was happening to everyone. Maybe its just me  |

My processor peaks at 100% on the home-page only too.
Only just noticed after reading this thread, so it hasn't been causing a problem so far.

I often have loading problems with site - by often I would say about 25% of the time. I don't really care. It's a good site so I put up with it.
The problem is not the site anyway, it's my bandwidth. So there. Bruce is doing a good job.
JBG never blew me once, so if haggis is getting favours that I'm not, then I'm gonna be pissed.
