In order to swap out my cams, and not having access to a lathe, I had to buy cam pins from Triumph. The kit costs $60.00!! Since I will only use them once I want to be the first contributor to a forum tool box. I will send them to anyone who needs them with the understanding that that member has to pass them on as needed. Are there any other tools we could do this with? I trust the people here and hope we can get a cooperative system going.

Nice idea for small, durable stuff like that. My spiffy new carb balancer I would not mind loaning but problematic to send all over. Hmmm...

Nice idea for small, durable stuff like that. Thanks for the affirmation. I was thinking of small specialty stuff that might help others. If it's a dumb idea in general, I withdraw the suggestion. I will still have the pins for anyone if they need them.

It is a good idea rmak, but I think maybe a deposit system should be put in place. Don't get me wrong i do trust the lot of ya(with the exception of Haggis ) but maybe it would be wise to use Bruces paypal as a deposit for the tools. That way if it does go missing we can purchase a new one using that money... just a thought

I think it's a good idea.As small as we are at this point,it shouldn't be too hard to keep track of things. I remember a few years ago,at TRN,there were some smaller specialty tools, like carb "D"tools and such, circulating around. I think that whoever had possession of the tool would use it as necessary, then pay the shipping to send it on to the next person on the waiting list, who would follow suit, and so on.Something like that could possibly work here.
Pretty soon we are going to have an auxiliary to this forum.I had hoped to have it going by now,but I haven't had time to work on it.It will be exclusionary to the point that only members in good standing of this forum, with a minimum post count, will be able to access it.No lurking will be allowed. I think that would be a good place to have the tool room.
I trust people here too, even Haggis, but at least that would insure that only active members would be soliciting tools.Actually,I could probably get the tool room part up and going pretty soon.
I think that anyone who wants to get on the waiting list for a tool should have to register with full name, address, phone number, etc. We can make that private,so that only I can access it,and it would be up to the recipient to provide the current possessor of the tool with forwarding info, via PM,email,or whatever.
As far as deposits go,if anyone sends a tool that they want a deposit on,that's between them, and the recipient. It's easy to set up a Paypal acct for that, and it's free,as long as you don't use it more that 5 times a year. But,I'm not going to get this forum in the middle of doing third party deposits.Sorry.
Thanks for the suggestion,Rich. It's a good one.
Cheers! Bruce
