Dirt riding was a great joy for me. Wish I was still capable of beating myself up to that extent now.
I have really started to look at British trials riding, the kind over obsticles, as a less physically demanding alternative. Anybody know where I could get one of those trials bikes in the USA (cheap)? I believe they are smaller cc's, geared really low with high ground clearance.

More dirt rides on the XR but with a new GoPro HD helmet cam
So what you think, the HD quality is good, well I think it is anyhow

Real good sound and video! The clip kept stopping, though, with the spinning dots in the middle. But that is a youtube problem, yes?

Yeah, that HD cam has a great picture quality, and good sound for a helmet cam, too. Dave, let the vid buffer about halfway thru before you watch it.If you connection is a little slow, like mine, that will usually smooth it out. Dirt riding was a great joy for me. Modern trials bikes are 2 strokes, usually around 300ccs,although smaller bikes are available, and weigh in at about 150 lbs. Less physically challenging? Well, not as aerobically demanding as motocross, maybe, but you be the judge:

Hi Terry! Ha, ha! I think those guys are the more advanced trials riders. I would start out riding over a few tree trunks back in my woods.
I still don't think it's as physically demanding as motocross or hare scrambles. When I was a just out of the army, construction worker 20 year old, dirt bike racing still kicked my a**!

I still don't think it's as physically demanding as motocross or hare scrambles. When I was a just out of the army, construction worker 20 year old, dirt bike racing still kicked my a**! I've thought of getting a cheap trials bike & giving it a go but I don't know if I have that much bike control or could go that slow for the required period. Trials bikes are just about all four strokes now, not many two bangers left. I still enjoy riding in the dirt so that might have to do for now, myself & the wife are off to the Flinders Ranges in April with the dirt bikes so looking forward to getting back up there...might even post some video up. Cheers Terry

Since Montesas are no longer available in the USA,I think all but one of the currently available new trials bikes here are two strokes. The new Sherco is a cammer, but that's the only one I can think of. Gas Gas is coming out with one,but they are not yet available,at least here. Trials has never really gained much of a foothold here, though,so the situation is no doubt different in your neck of the woods.
