I like that little scooter. I'd never buy one, but if I got one for free, I'd ride it! I like it too, and we almost got it for free. We have less than $1000 into this thing, including buying the bike, but not including labor/time.

Jeff Nice job, you are a wild man with a cutoff wheel in your hand. I wish I still had all the enthusiasm you have for working on bikes. Don't get me wrong I love working on my bikes, I just don't have all the time I would like to have to do it. Owning a house with a wife and 3 kids there is always other stuff that needs to be done. Keep up the good work.

thanks Bill.
Normally I wouldn't have the time to work on something like this as much as I have been, but since I got laid off my schedule kinda opened up a little. My buddy is going to college, but he's on winter break so we got lucky that we both have spare time. We're trying to get this thing on the road before he goes back to school, and before I go back to work.

Looking good. The KZ series had great motors, but the "customs" looked a bit boring. I like what you have done with this one, very nice.

another update: I got the frame all welded up: we mounted the fender and I welded the brackets onto the frame: then we rattle-canned it black: traced a seatpan pattern out of cardboard, then cut it out of 14 ga steel sheet: test fit: time to bend it!: my buddy is running low on funds for the project, so we ghetto-rigged an exercise pad/gorilla tape seat cover. He'll get it professionally covered in the next month or so, but this works for now: here's me testing my welds for strength: mounting the rear fender: We're getting close! Only a few things left on the checklist. This is a lot of damn fun!

That things cool. I love bikes done like that. Those Emgo meggas are the shizz. I got some of those for my Scram. Maybe someday I'll even get around to fabbing up some connector pipes so I can mount 'em. ;D
Hey,izzat a trailer fender? I like that little seat too. That whole bike reminds me of the way we used to build our choppers, before all the bolt on shit came along.

Thanks Bruce! The emgo megas are the best cheap pipes on the market. We had to get some adapter pipes made because the headers were just too damn small to fit. We went to a muffler shop and they swedged up some adapters for like $20.
it is more or less a trailer fender. I bought it from an online bike parts place, but it was listed there as a trailer fender. Generally I prefer round fenders (or rounder, rather) but for this application it works really well.
The name of the game for this bike has been homebuilt budget ghetto fabulous. We wanted to do this ourselves, on the cheap, and badass at the same time. It's been a real blast.

Sweat....
have you been tracking the costs? would be cool to see a breakout for the doner bike price on down.
love this concept and execution.

by the time it's all said and done we'll have just over $1000 in this bike, maybe $1200. That's including $500 for the bike.

It's looking great Jeff, most excellent. You are very skilled at the metalwork.
I must add a karma point to you - even though it bumps you higher than me.

But you'll still need to find more to keep up. I'll be hitting Sweat next. ;D
